Once you have decided that the Leonberger is the type of dog that will fit your needs, the search begins for just the right breeder. Selecting your leonberger, is an exciting adventure. Here you will find the resources on our site that are most pertinent for the potential puppy buyer.

Bringing a new Leonberger puppy into your life is a tremendous responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. We hope that since you are on our site, you will take your time and avail yourself of the tools we provide to help you select the right breeder for you and more importantly, to know what questions you should ask of any breeder. Our LCA breeders have voluntarily agreed to adhere to our Member Practices document but it is your responsibility as a potential owner of a Leonberger to know, understand and discuss this document with any breeder whom you reach out to. Below you will find a glossary to help you understand some of the terms commonly used in many dog breeds. We have also created a “questions to ask” document as well as a checklist of items for you to use when interviewing a breeder and preparing to purchase your puppy. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We welcome your questions and comments!
