Welcome to the Leonberger Club of America Web Site! Our web site is designed to support our membership and to introduce and educate new people about our wonderful breed. Enjoy your visit and please feel welcome to contact us for additional information.
The Leonberger Club of America (LCA) was founded in 1985 by 12 original members and for 22 years was the Official Registry for Leonberger dogs in the United States. The LCA has grown to approximately 1200 members and 10 Regional Clubs have formed to encourage member participation in Leonberger events around the country. The LCA also welcomes Canadian members and Canadian Leonbergers were included in the LCA Registry.
The LCA and our members primary focus is the health and development of the Leonberger Breed in the US. LCA Member Breeders agree to high standards set forth in the LCA Member Practices. Before buying a Leonberger please contact the LCA or an LCA Member Breeder and let us help you find a happy, healthy Leonberger to add to your family. LCA members are very active and participate in numerous social and competitive events around the country. The LCA National Specialty has been held annually for 24 years at geographically dispersed locations around the US. We invite you to join us and meet Great People and Great Dogs.
The Leonberger Club of America was selected as the AKC Parent Club for the Leonberger in 2007. The AKC became the official Registry for Leonberger dogs in 2008 and Leonbergers entered AKC Miscellaneous Class on July 1, 2008. Leonbergers have been eligible to participate in AKC Companion Events since January 1, 2006
